  2. #5 In chapter 18 Jai backed up and hit Randy's car. All day Jai was trying to come up with an excuse to tell Randy on how it happened. Then Jai told Randy that she hit his car and Randy said he would take a look at after dinner. Randy told her its wasn't a big deal and it didn't need to be fixed because it still ran. I believe the lesson learned from this is accidents happen and you can't always freak out about it. I think it was cool that Randy didn't freak out. Almost any other person in this world would be so angry at Jai if that happened to their car. I agree with Randy not to freak out on the little problems in life. If everyone had as kind of a heart as Randy the world be such a better place. If everyone was forgiving, people would get along with each other better.

    1. Good thoughts - what about the idea of people vs possessions... how does that come to play in this blog?

  3. i think that with randy situation my parents would have said something like live every day like theirs no tomorrow. they would have also said surround your self with laughs and fun people laughing makes a person live a longer life. happiness is something u choose and work for its not given. life is only what you yourself make it so make it great.with Randys given prognosis's it would be very hard to just chip it off your shoulder and live like theres no tomorrow.

    1. You're not focusing on the chapter - Randy's parents gave him advice about Jai. You need to redo this.

  4. 1.) Discuss two different ideas that struck you about the "romancing the brick wall" chapter. Why were they important?
The way he persevered through the multiple failures and rejections in which had occurred when trying to pursue Jai, he had kept trying. He respected he wishes, and wanted to be with her. He refers to her as a "brick wall" because she was very hard to win over, she took playing hard to get to a hole different level. She wasn't playing hard to get, she was just protecting herself. When Jai told Randy that she didn't love him, Randy was crushed. Randy could have retreated and given up in heart-break, but he didn't. He wasn't pushy, but he wasn't under-the-radar. His parents had given him the advice to be supportive and make sure she knows he cares. Jai came to the realization the she did love Randy, and he was excited. He had romanced a brick wall which had once broken his heart, and now was there to hold his hand until the very last day.

  5. 5. The dents in the car Were done on accident by Jai and she was extremely nervous about it because she didn't know what to do or how to tell Randy, she thought he would be furious and did nothing but worry for a whole day. She had to break the news to Randy and she was expecting the worst but he wasn't mad at all, Randy was raised to believe that cars are only for transportation, getting you from point A to point B, as a result he didn't care about the cosmetic damage to them and decided that they didn't need repaired. The dents became a statement of their relationship and that
Randy didn't care when Jai made a mistake because he really loved her, I know if someone hit my car I wouldn't take it as well as randy did.

Jai backed out in to Randy's car and she was very nervous because she thought Randy would be mad. Randy hardly even thought anything about it. The lesson learned is that things don't matter it is people who you should care about. Randy didn't care; it was just the cars that took the damage and not any people.
I feel that this is the right way to approach this situation. Randy didn't show that he was angry and that made Jai feel better. If he would have gotten mad Jai would have been so nervous when she was driving in the future, and she probably would have done more damage and maybe be injured.
I agree with Randy one hundred percent. A dent in your car doesn't make you look bad. It looks to me like you aren't bragging about how much money you have, or how much the bank gives you. If it was me I would probably get it fixed because that is what I would spend money on. If you like to put your money in other places then that is your choice. Randy did the right thing here because he couldn't do anything about it. Things happen.

  7. 5. What was the lesson learned from the dents in the cars? How do you feel about the situation & the lesson? Do you agree with Randy? Discuss.
I think this is a good lesson to be able to teach others about that material value is not a value you should have in life. Sure if someone opens there door a leaves a small dent on your new 2014 Ford F350 then that might be a different story, but the moral of the situation should stay intact. When we die we can't bring any of the material objects with us so why worry over them and spend money that could be spent on other things like schooling, vacations, etc. I would agree with Randy on this matter because we have had a situation like this. Well it happened to the little pickup when it scraped the side of another vehicle but we never fixed the dent in it. Along with the van when my mom caught the front bumper on a concrete post and pulled the bumper out a bit. But these are also older cars that wouldn't be worth fixing up.

  8. 5. What was the lesson learned from the dents in the cars? How do you feel about the situation & the lesson? Do you agree with Randy? Discuss.
Jay backed in to Randy's nice car and she was all worried he was gonna be mad. So she took the cars and parked the cars in the garage and made his favorite supper and was gonna wait till he was in a good mood to tell him. Then Randy was in a good mood and then Jay broke the new to him. He was not even mad. Randy was not mad about it cause he didn't want to fight over some stupid dent that could be fixed other than if they got in a fight then that be alot harder to fix. So he was fine with it and didn't care. He was cool about it. If i were Randy i would have been mad cause i love my cars and trucks. And i would of been you should of been more careful around it casue you know i love it. But if i were randy and then i veiwed it like him i would of been the same way cause he tried so hard to get jay and then he did and i wouldn't wanna fight over some dent that can be fixed and maybe make her mad and leave me possibly so if i were him i would of been fine with it like him. This is a good way to veiw this lesson people feeling mean more than anything. Don't get frusterated over some dent you can always fix it. You can't always fix some people feeling so veiw things the way Randy did.

  9. 5 Jai run into Randy's car and was getting prepared to break the news to him gently but when he got home he wasn't even mad when she told him the new. Then jai got mad when he didn't want to fix the cars. Randy realized cars are to get you from place to place not about how rich you are. Jai like how he wasn't mad but not how he didn't want to fix them. This was something she was going to have to get use to. Yes you don't need a nice car just something that gets the job done. I think he handled it the right way.

  10. #5 Jai backed out and there was Randy's car. She hit both of the cars had dents. Then the Jai was so worried that Randy would be mad. Then Jai spent all day worried and afraid she would not be able to explain it to Randy. When Randy got home Jai showed him the cars. Randy was not mad and he did not want to get it fixed. He said they still work don't worry about the way they look. I feel that it is a good lesson because it was not worth spending money on anything like that. Yes I agreed with Randy There is no reason to spend money on the looks of something that still works. The next time Jai backs out then she will look.

  11. I think that the ballon experience was a very cool way to do it it is something to separate yourself from every one else. Why follow everyone of the cliff when you could take the stairs down. Something like this I have had happen to me would be that everyone is going out for school sports and I have been racing so I chose to take a different path then everyone else

  12. 4.) I think that if I would get married that I would probably would like to do that what Randy did with the ballon because it would have been fun and different form the traditional wedding with the buses and the limo. That is cool because it is just you and you bride a person that you just married and will be there the rest of you life with. That know one can interrupted you and her because you are bonding with each other.

I personally believe that Randy did a good thing for trying to win Jai's heart. I can connect to this because I have to tried to win a women's heart. I pretty much did the same thing as Randy did, I talked to her when ever I could, compliment her also. I believe in buying flowers and meeting the parent's, it's good to get to know the parent's. I believe that when women play (hard to get) it's a sign that they want to (date) but in their mind, they tell themselves they don't want to. That's the big problem with girls and relationships, so I'm guessing that's what was running through Jai's mind when Randy was with her, besides getting hurt in the end. When is the perfect time to ask a girl out? The answer to that is very hard to say, all women are different and don't want to be treated like a different girl, believe me I know. The lesson learned here is over coming fear, you won't be able to over come it if you don't face it. You just can't run away from it, or will it keep chasing you, until it finally catches up, or just stopes and leaves you alone. Relationships concise on one import thing, communication. If you don't talk to each other about your problems, you will never get over the brick wall!

  14. 5. What was the lesson learned from the dents in the cars? How do you feel about the situation & the lesson? Do you agree with Randy? Discuss.
Jai came home one night and ate with her husband Randy. At the table Jai told Randy that she made a dent in the car. After dinner Jai took Randy to the car and showed him how bad the dent was. When Randy saw the dent he surprisingly did not get mad. Jai said she would take the car in, in the morning to get it fixed. Randy did not want her to do that. He was going to still drive around with it. Jai was shocked. The lesson of the story is cars are supposed to get you to point A to point B. If the car still works even though it has a dent or scratch then still use it, don't buy a new one. Cars aren't used for social status but for transportation. Randy was using the dented car as a metaphor for life in general. People make mistakes in life and have bruises and scars but, they don't leave their partner or give up on each other for it. Yes I agree with Randy because his way of handling the situation will make stronger bonds between him and his wife. This will help me in the future to make stronger bonds with one other people. I agree that people need to help one another through tough times.

  15. I choose number 5 because in chapter 18 Jai backed up and hit Randy's very nice car. Jai was trying to come up with an excuse to tell Randy on how it happened but couldn't. Jai finally told Randy that she hit his car and Randy said he would take a look at it after dinner. Randy told her it wasn't a big problem and it didn't need to be fixed because it was still ran. The lesson learned from this is accidents happen and you can't always freak out about it. I think it was cool that Randy didn't freak out. Almost any person in this world would be so angry at Jai if that happened to their car. I agree with Randy not to get mad at the little problems in life. If everyone had a heart like Randy's the world be a better place.
